Product
What virgin fuel oil D6 is
D6 is the heavy residual fuel oil left after lighter fuels have been distilled from crude oil, similar to No. 6 fuel oil. “Virgin” means it comes straight from refining, not from recycled or re-refined oil.
It is very viscous, so it is heated for storage, pumping and burning. Refineries with cracking or coking units buy it as feedstock, and industrial plants burn it for heat and power.
